Venice is not only a city of timeless charm, it is a social and cultural place, a place that represents art in its entirety; she has been an inspirational muse and home for many artists and today, she has decided to welcome the exhibition dedicated to Letizia Battaglia’s splendid photographs with open arms: photography as a life choice. The exhibition is taking place at the Casa dei Tre Oci, on the island of Giudecca and will be present until 18 August 2019.
An exhibition of 300 photographs, including several unpublished ones, taken by Letizia Battaglia, famous for being one of the first Italian women photojournalists, who has always wanted to show her Sicily through her photos. You can thus admire the portraits of women, men, children and the true face of a city like Palermo, destroyed by a controversial political context.
A strong social criticism of great impact, which leads not only to know a reality that for many seems far away, but also to investigate it, to understand its different facets, to recognize its details and to deepen it with an important reflection. An opportunity to learn the history of our country and to sense a new perspective, sharing its concreteness and its drama.
The exhibition was curated by Francesca Alfano Miglietti, organized by Civita Tre Venezie, promoted by Fondazione di Venezia with the participation of Tendercapital.
