Not many tourists know it, yet it is one of the most beautiful churches in the city. We are talking about the “Basilica dei Frari” in Venice. The church is very large, 102 meters long, and has 17 very beautiful monumental altars inside.
In the “Basilica dei Frari” are buried Antonio Canova and Tiziano, two of the most important Italian artists, and many important personalities of the city of Venice. The most important piece of art is certainly “L’Assunta“, an oil painting on wood by Tiziano, dated 1516-1518. Another important work is “Pala Pesaro“, an oil painting on canvas, also by Tiziano, datable to 1519-1526.
