Burano is one of the most famous islands of the Venetian lagoon, known in the world for two reasons: the lace and the colourful houses, whose colours are reflected on the waters of the canals, fascinating the visitors. During the good season, it’s possible to meet in the campielli (small squares) the old ladies of Burano, while they’re working on the original merletto buranello (the lace of Burano) between the chatting. In piazza Baldassare Galuppi it is possible to visit the Museum of the Merletto, which was once the School of the merletto.
